Chief Executive Officer
John Davis has served as the Chief Executive Officer of CPS since 2011. He brings with him an extensive background in business, management, and sales. John started his career with Roche Diagnostics and Ciba-Geigy Corporation and later went on to St. Jude Medical Center where he worked as Territory Manager. He has spent the last 17 years of his career focused on pain management including nine years as a device distributor for Pain Technology and six years as a Top 3 Territory Sales Rep with Medtronic.
Since joining the CPS team, John has helped the company achieve exponential growth through a strategic expansion initiative. These efforts have led to the acquisition or establishment of an additional 60 clinics, a state-of-the-art laboratory, and Comprehensive Wellness Pharmacy – CPS’s proprietary compounding pharmacy.
John holds a Master’s in Business and Finance from the University of Mississippi.
VP Business Development
Bo Boyer, Vice President of Business Development, brings ten years of Business Development, medical sales, training and consulting experience to Comprehensive Pain Specialists. He joined the company in 2013,after working as Director of Business Development for a successful anesthesia management company.
His primary task is to improve the company’s market position and achieve financial growth. He works to define long-term organizational strategies and strategic goals for the growth of the company. An outstanding member of the sales and marketing team, Bo is tasked with finding new markets and screening potential business deals on a daily basis. In addition to bringing new opportunities to the company, Bo also spends valuable time on the road, visiting with existing care centers, acting as a liaison between clinic and corporate.
He is a 2005 graduate from Georgia Southern University, where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology. As an active member of the National Association of Medical Sales Representatives, Bo keeps up with the latest market trends and strategies by reviewing publications from experts in a variety of specialties.
Chief Financial Officer
Bill Anderson serves as Chief Financial Officer and brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience and leadership to Comprehensive Pain Specialists. Prior to joining Comprehensive Pain Specialists, Bill served as President of WJA Consulting which provided interim CFO, project management and staffing services for its healthcare clients.
Bill has also held several senior-level management positions and served as CFO for HealthMark Partners, Inc. and Medical Reimbursements of America. Bill started his career in the healthcare practice of Arthur Andersen where he last held the title of Experienced Audit Manager. Bill is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Bill received his Masters of Accountancy from The University of Tennessee and his Bachelors of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi.
Chief Operations Officer
Jeff Hurst is the Chief Operations Officer at Comprehensive Pain Specialists. Jeff has more than 20 years of experience working for large commercial laboratories (LabCorp, Advanced Toxicology Network, and Quest Diagnostics) and has held many positions including Certifying Scientist Supervisor, QC/Safety Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, alternate Responsible Person and Lab Manager.
He is also an inspector for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in their National Laboratory Certification Program’s Division of Workplace Testing and holds a State of Tennessee Medical Technologist Supervisor’s License and the HEM (Healthcare Environmental Management) certification from ECRI Institute.
He received his BS in Biology from Memphis State University and his MBA from Ellis University.
Chief Experience Officer
Deb Miller has spent more than twenty five years working with companies to attract and keep customers. As an accomplished marketing and communications professional with wide experience in working with healthcare companies, Deb brings discipline, organization and fresh creative thinking to the patient engagement initiatives at CPS. As Chief Experience Officer, her charge is to help craft a journey for CPS patients and staff that is founded on impeccable clinical delivery and genuine care for the patient.
Deb’s experience includes serving as Chief Marketing Officer for a variety of healthcare organizations including companies within the revenue cycle management arena and patient communications. In addition, she provides leadership and vision to hospital and healthcare systems in the area of patient engagement. Her expertise as a sought-after healthcare marketing thoughtleader is balanced by her years of experience working on the marketing/agency side of business. She served as Principal “Elevator” for Elevate Marketing Group and Managing Partner, Marketing Director, and Creative Director for a Nashville based marketing communications firm where she assisted clients with the execution and management of nationwide product development, marketing and brand management programs.
She holds a degree from Michigan State University in Advertising & Communications and is active in a variety of healthcare organizations including serving as co-chair and founding member of HFMA’s Here initiative for women in the business of healthcare.
PETER KROLL, MD
Dr. Peter Kroll, M.D. earned his degree from Loma Linda School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. Dr. Kroll did his surgical internship, orthopedic surgery and anesthesia residencies at Loma Linda University Medical Center and his pain management fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
His published research is extensive evaluating drug therapies and their effect on chronic pain patients. Subjects include Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Diabetic Neuropathy and much more. Dr. Kroll is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology with specialty certifications in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
Alex Munderloh serves as Corporate Counsel for Comprehensive Pain Specialists. He brings a wealth of health care experience from his time as Assistant General Counsel at the Tennessee Department of Health. In that role he served as the advisory attorney for four health related boards. As an advisory attorney he counseled boards on the legality of proposed actions, drafted regulations, and assisted with compliance matters. Alex also spent significant time handling licensure discipline litigation on behalf of the Board of Medical Examiners.
Alex oversees all legal matters that affect CPS. He works significantly in physician hiring and the clinic acquisition process. He reviews and negotiates contracts, leases, and employment agreements on behalf of CPS. He manages the company’s litigation and assists with compliance initiatives. Alex received a BBA in Economics from the University of Mississippi, a JD from Cumberland School of Law, and an MBA from Samford University.
Director of HR and Payroll
Sheila Holman serves as the company's Director of Human Resources & Payroll. Sheila has spent the past decade working in various aspects of HRIS conversion and HR/Payroll process management with healthcare companies such as Phydata and AmSurg.
Working with companies experiencing exponential growth gave Sheila the change management experience needed to take Comprehensive Pain's HR department to the next level. Sheila has her sights set on utilizing technology to streamline the payroll and benefit enrollment processes, enhance auditing capabilities and improve data sharing between HR and other departments.
VP of Operations
As Vice President of Operations, William Turner drives the delivery of clinical operations for CPS, both companywide and at the individual site level. As seasoned leader, fueled by a broad experience in assuring efficiency, productivity and compliant delivery, William’s role is to design and deploy innovative processes and resources that are responsive to the needs of patients, staff and the company’s shareholders.
Turner joined CPS in March 2013 to develop and launch the company’s pharmacy division which is currently a thriving resource to CPS patients, practitioners and communities. He brings vast experience in putting together scalable, repeatable and efficient infrastructure for start-up and high-growth organizations. The foundation for his success during his more than 16 years of operations management, spanning four industries, is his ability to attract, motivate and inspire high-performing, accountable teams.
VP of IT Operations
Bobby Tishaw brings more than 20 years of IT experience working predominantly in the Healthcare space. He is passionate about servant leadership of the complex IT operations for the various business verticals of CPS. He has supported many types of environments from single medical practices through large enterprise scale companies.
Most recently he was with one of the largest Hospital companies in the US, where he was responsible for developing connectivity solutions for care partners outside the Hospital setting, Telemedicine solutions, and bringing new technology to Healthcare. His technical expertise includes diverse connectivity solutions for data, imaging, and video, large scale datacenter operations, application support, security, disaster recovery, and business continuity. He is a gifted leader and teaches leadership development.
Director of Site Operations
Kim Pennington brings 13 years of experience in the healthcare industry to Comprehensive Pain Specialists. Her background includes clinical and administrative supervisory experience in the specialties of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Orthopedic practices. In 2013, Kim joined CPS as an office manager, overseeing three offices in Middle TN. She soon began assisting with education and training of the managers and in 2014 served as the Central Operations Manager. Her responsibilities included overseeing all centralized patient intake; call center, new patient scheduling, pre-registration, medical records, procedure scheduling, radiology, and prior authorization.
In 2015, Kim was promoted to Director of Site Operations where her primary focus is management, education and communication, to increase continuity throughout the company. Serving as a liaison, Kim works closely with the compliance department and various operations teams at CPS.
VP of Clinical Research
Laura Fisher started working with CPS in 2005 as the Director of Research. She brings nearly 19 years of clinical research experience specializing in pain, anesthesia, spinal cord stimulation, and psychiatry. Prior to CPS, she ran a small research consulting company in southern California, co-founded the Pain Research Department at Loma Linda University Health Care, and facilitated the formation of the Anesthesia Research Department at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in southern California. She has conducted over 130 clinical trials, the majority dedicated to pain research. She is experienced in Phase I-IV drug trials, a large number of investigational device trials, as well as, several independent investigator initiated research protocols.
She obtained her BS in Biology and Chemistry from Lipscomb University and completed her Master’s work in Family Life Education and Therapy from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA. Her qualitative research focus is/has been the whole body aspects of chronic pain including the psycho-social, physical, nutritional and religious/spiritual components.
